Skate Park Resources

  • KaBoom: Home Depot founded this organization that helps communities build skate parks, playgrounds and playing fields.  They have do-it-yourself resources and some grants available. 

 

  • Skatepark.org: "This site serves as a resource for everyone involved in the process of getting a public skatepark built, and generally promoting skateboarding."

 

 

Anti-Meth Resources

  • Methnet: This is the Illinois Attorney General's site.  It addresses various aspects of the methamphetamine issue.

 

  • Methresources.gov: Here you will find a tremendous amount of information.  It has a discussion board and addresses meth from the federal perspective. 

 

 

Community Beautification

 

  • Tree City USA:  Find information about community forest management, policy, and education.

 

 

  • Keep America Beautiful:  Here you will find resources for recycling, waste reduction, and greenspace programs. 

 

Faith-Based Initiatives

  • White House Faith-based & Community Initiatives:  A guide to getting federal funding if you are faith-based. 

 

 

 

 

After School Programs

  • Promising Practices in Afterschool
    Provides a wealth of information about what works in after-school programs for directors and other key people. Features a searchable database, a discussion board, and hundreds of links to other resources.

 

  • Afterschool Alliance
    Raises awareness of the importance of after-school programs and advocates for quality, affordable programs for all children.

Community Committees

  • Southern Illinois Coalbelt Community Committee                                                     Seeks to improve the economies of the eleven communities that make up its membership. One of the many things these communities have in common is a long history of reliance upon the coal industry for employment.

 

  • Carroll County Initiative                         Mission is "to not only reduce consumption but change the casual attitude of Youth, Parents, and Society about Alcohol."
